【講評】JN Learning Lab 5.24(日英)

2週間前の課題の講評が掲載されたのでまとめます。
訳例：
A "Japanese person" is taking the European music scene by storm.
Such a fantasy arises from Aya Nakamura, a successful singer-songwriter based in France.
Although her name may make you think she is Japanese, the 24-years-old actually has no conecction at all with Japan.
She is such a sought-after figure that major Frence daily Le Monde featured her as a singer to watch.
The music video for her song "Djadja" has been played about 370 million times since it was posted on YouTube in April 2018.
Aya Nakamura is the stage name of Aya Danioko, who was born in the west African country of Mali and immigrated to Paris suburb.
She took the surname of Nakamura from Hiro Nakamura, a character with supernatural power played by Japanese actor Masi Oka in the U.S TV show "Heroes".

講評者による訳例のポイントまとめ
１．辞書の表現をそのまま使わない
・「錯覚」＝ポジティブなニュアンス→〇fantasyを選定
give an impression that ... (~という印象を与える)も良し
✖illusion→「幻覚」＝目で見たときの「錯覚」、真実が明らかになったとき騙されたような気分にさせられる「錯覚」
✖delusion, false impression, misconception, misunderstanding, misled into ...
→「誤解」、「間違った印象」なため文脈にふさわしくない
⇒辞書に訳語が記載されていても語感がふさわしくない場合がある。
・「旋風」も同じ
✖whirlwind→「混乱」、「騒動」などあまりよくない文脈で使用される
〇take ... by storm(心酔させる、魅了する) stormが訳語では同じような語感を持つ
・「日本人」
「～人」という場合、an American, a Canadianなどは使えるが、 a Japanese, a Chinese ということはあまりない。
辞書的には名詞Japaneseは確かに「日本人」だけれども
２．訳文では何をメインにして伝えるべきか
・第三文「活躍する」→ピッタリな訳後がない、、、
→要素として何を伝えるべきか考える
「フランスを拠点に活躍する～」＝①フランスが拠点②成功している
以上２点が伝われば十分
訳例ではsuccessfulに「活躍」の意味を込めた
文脈から判断可能とみて、「成功」を省くのも一つの手
・「連想」
✖associate→「関連付ける」という意味合いが強い
伝えるべき要素を考えれば、
her name sounds like Japanese で十分
訳例＝ her name may make you think she is Japanese
(彼女の名は彼女が日本人だと思わせる、、、)
・「ナカムラ」を主語にして、 be reminiscent of ... , remind ... of ...
→of以下に話者の記憶にあるものが入り、「～に似ている」といった表現で使う言い方でここでは使えない
evokeはa Japanese atmosphere（日本的な雰囲気）などなら使える
・「縁もゆかりもない」→×have nothing to do with...
「日本など関係ない」というやや冷たい響きがある
使い方要注意！
・「注目の歌手」→〇one to watch(注目の人)、〇a singer worthy of note
・「引っ張りっだこ」→〇sought-after, 〇much in demand
・"YouTube"に「公開する」→〇post, △release, upload,✖publish（印刷媒体で使う語）
３．どんな超能力者なのか？
・「芸名」→〇stage name , 〇artist name
✖Aya Nakamura is a stage name→〇her stage name
訳例：「アヤ・ナカムラは芸名で本名はアヤ・ダニオコ～」をひとまとめにした
Aya Nakamura is the stage name of Aya Danioko...
・「ちなむ」→×name after
受け身にしても名付けられた人や物が主語であり、名前は主語にならない。
訳例：「ナカムラという名字をヒロ・ナカムラからとった」
・「超能力者」→×phychic(人の心を読んだり、操ったりする超能力者)

emigrate,immigrate→人に対してのみ使用、永久的な移住
migrate→動物にも使える、一時的な移住 渡り鳥のようなイメージ
immigrate→自国から他国に移住するために「入ってくる」場合

emigrate→自国から移住するために「出ていく」場合
